This project, funded by Aspire to Innovate (a2i) and supported through in-kind contributions, is set to revolutionize Bangladesh’s agricultural export sector through the comprehensive digitization of its value chain. By leveraging a mobile app and web-based platform, the initiative will establish a robust farmer database, streamline transactions, and significantly enhance traceability using QR codes.
SERA Bangladesh is leading the development of this Sustainable E-Traceability System to fully digitize the value chain for exportable fruits and vegetables. The project directly addresses the critical need for transparency, food safety, and compliance with international standards—particularly for markets in the EU, Middle East, and beyond.
Replacing traditional paper-based systems, this digital platform empowers exporters and contract farmers to record, manage, and track the entire farm-to-fork process in real time. From farmer enrollment to input distribution, crop monitoring, harvest, procurement, processing, and export packaging, each stage will be digitally documented and traceable via QR codes.
The platform not only boosts transparency across the supply chain but also builds consumer trust by offering verifiable data on product origin, safety, and compliance. This ensures that exported produce aligns with evolving international food safety standards and global market demands.
Key features of the system include:
During the pilot phase, SERA Bangladesh will collaborate with fruit and vegetable exporters, contract farmers, and the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) to demonstrate and validate the system’s effectiveness. This initiative is poised to set a new benchmark for Bangladesh’s agri-export sector—unlocking opportunities, reducing losses, and ensuring sustainable, traceable agricultural trade.
